Definition of Common Learning |
|
The definition of a common learning experience, then, would be an experience or set of experiences that lead a person to gain enough new information about a specific topic to understand it, appreciate it, & perhaps become skillful at it. If we consider the examples of basketball, or video games, or even finding a new driving route to school, a person may also enjoy the learning experience. In fact, enjoyment is often tied to common learning. Obviously, a person who does not enjoy video games would never be able to spend the time it takes to become skillful at Half-Life. But consider . . . does the "enjoyment" come from learning new skills, or must someone "enjoy" a topic before they begin learning about it? In other words, do you learn the lyrics to a new song after you like it, or do you learn them because you like it? whew, does your brain hurt yet? |
