THE IMPERFECT

The imperfect tense of a verb is used to:
1. express repetitive /habitual action
2. express on-going action
3. describe weather, age, scenery, physical characteristics, emotions or feelings
4. express a passive action
5. describe the second part of indirect discourse (paraphrasing what someone else said)
