Test Proctoring Guidelines for Taking Tests Outside

Valencia College

The Mathematics Department has established guidelines and procedures by which students enrolled in online Mathematics Courses may take proctored examinations outside Valencia College.

Students living in the vicinity of one of the Valencia Campuses must take the tests at Valencia.

1) Proctored exams must be taken and supervised at an official testing center at a community college, college or university. The proctoring center must be approved by the instructor/department. Please go to http://www.ncta-testing.org/cctc/find.php for approved proctoring sites.

2) The student is responsible for making all proctoring arrangements with the proctoring site. Due to different computer configurations at testing sites, It is not guarantee that the student can test at the desired testing site.

3) Arrangements must be finalized during the first week of classes. If the testing site is changed during the semester, the students must allow at least one week for arrangements to be made with the NEW testing site. The student must take the first test in the NEW testing site at least 3 days before the test deadline to fix any technical problem that may arise.

4) All proctoring arrangements must be made before the end of the first week of classes.

5) The proctor must confirm the arrangements with the student by contacting through e-mail the instructor giving the tests. The e-mail must come from the institution’s testing center, and must include the proctor’s name, title, and the institution phone number. Only institutions with the .EDU domain in their e-mail address will be considered.

6) The proctor must confirm that the computer has the Firefox Browser (some pictures will not open with other browsers), and the latest Java.

7) The student is responsible for paying to the proctoring institution any testing/proctoring fees and arranging testing times with the proctor. Proctoring fees may vary from $45 -$75 per test depending on the institution. Remember that if you retake, you may have to pay the proctoring fees. Student can only test by the test deadline.

8) The student is responsible for carefully reading the online syllabus and carefully following the test deadlines.

9)  The proctor must identify the student taking the test with an official photo ID.
