Tools to Use

Pictured below are some of the tools (Toys) one can use on a field trip. Not pictured and seemingly being used more and more is a GPS. To be able to give the location of a collection within 10m is the way of the future and any GPS can do this.

The tools shown below range from a inexpensive thermometer to a $200+ dissolved oxygen meter--of which most are much more expensive. The refractometer used for salinity works better than the electronic meter because while the meter may give a more precise reading, there are no conversion tables needed...which are usually left behind in the lab on the day of the field trip.
