Part 1: Readings: Chapters: Critical Thinking through Federalist Paper Explained

January 6-12: Introduce yourself, ask questions about the course in Discussions Read the chapter on Critical Thinking and then answer and ask questions in the discussions area.

Start discussing current events or things of interest in the thread in the Discussions area. Send me an email with your telephone number and the schedule you have set up for studying/posting for this course.

Jan 13-19: Read the Chapter on Communicating on Sensitive Political Matters then answer/ask questions.

Jan 20-26: Read the Chapter on Origins then ask and answer questions in Discussions area.

 Choose an editorial to evaluate from Blackboard. Start discussing it on the thread created in Blackboard.

Jan 27-Feb 2:   Read the The Federalist Paper #51 and the Federalist Paper Explained, then answer questions.  

 First Test must be taken in one of Valencia’s testing centers by February 8

 

Part 2 Readings: Chapters: U.S. Constitution through Rights of Citizens

February 3-9:  Read the U.S. Constitution and Notes on the Constitution and answer/ask questions

February 10-16:  Read Chapter on Federalism and then answer/ask questions

February 14:  Complete draft of first critical thinking evaluation is due in Blackboard

February 17-23Read the chapter on Democracy then answer/ask questions

February 24- March 2: Read Chapter on Rights of Citizens then answer/ask questions 

Second Test must be taken in one of Valencia’s testing centers by March 2

 

 

 

Part 3 Readings: Chapters: Ideology through Rights of Citizens in Criminal Procedures

March 3-9: Read Chapters on Ideology and Political Parties then answer/ask questions (This is spring break week. Try to get these chapters read the week before so that you can take this week off.)

March 11-16: Read the Chapter on Polls, Programming and Campaigns then answer/ask questions

Final Withdrawal deadline  March 21

March 17-23: Read Chapter on Federal Courts then answer/ask questions.

March 24-30Read chapter on Rights of Citizens in Criminal Procedures then answer/ask questions.

Third Exam must be taken in one of Valencia’s testing centers by April 4

 

Part 4 Readings: Chapters: Congress through External or International Policy

April 8: Final draft of critical thinking paper due

March 31- April 7: Read the chapter on the Congress and then answer/ask questions

April 7-13: Read the chapter on the Presidency then answer/ask questions.

April 14-20: Read the chapters on Fiscal and Monetary Policy and External or International Policy then answer/ask questions

Final Exam: Will be available starting April 20. Must be taken in one of Valencia’s testing centers by April 23.
