Basic French
Proficiency approach to French. Stress on everyday use of the language.
Students introduced to basic grammar, vocabulary and composition. This
course, two years of recent high school French or permission of professor
is prerequisite for FRE 1100.
FRE 1100: 3 credit hours
Elementary French I
Prerequisite: Fre 1000, two years of recent high school French or
departmental approval. Fundamental French grammar and communication
skills.
FRE 1101: 3 credit hours
Elementary French II
Prerequisite: FRE 1100 or departmental approval. Study of grammar and
extensive conversation. Includes limited compositions based on selected
readings from French publications.
FRE 2200: 3 credit hours
Intermediate French I
Prerequisite: FRE 1101 or departmental approval. Emphasis on integration
of communications skills-conversation, reading and composition.
FRE 2201: 3 credit hours
Intermediate French II
Prerequisite: FRE 2200 or departmental approval. Emphasis on integration
of communications skills-oral presentations based on reading and composition.

For students interested in special topics that further explore the field
