Welcome to the Precalculus Algebra Online Course!

This course only contains the Algebra part of a Precalculus course. It does not contain the Trigonometry part of a Precalculus course.

I am delighted that you have enrolled in my section, and I hope that you have a great academic term!
Instruction in this course does not involve classroom lectures. You will be online, learning the course’s contents through computer generated lessons. The computerized learning modules use text, graphics, animation, and video. This interactive multimedia approach has the potential to accommodate your individual learning style. You will interact with the computer to complete all the assigned objectives. All instructional materials used throughout the course, as well as the scheduled activities, support and promote the achievement of the stated learning outcomes and unit learning objectives. I will act as facilitator to help you and guide you in your learning experience.

This course will teach you the Precalculus Algebra needed for Physics and Calculus.

This online course is challenging and time consuming. Keep in mind that this course is more convenient, but it is not easier because it is online. This method of delivery is not intended for everyone. Only highly motivated, highly discipline, and highly organized students that can read the book and can learn the material by themselves, with the instructor's guidance, are successful in this course. Working with Mathematics should not be an issue for you.

This online course uses ‘MyMathLab’, (MML) Addison Wesley’s testing tool over the Internet.  To be able to take this course, you must have a computer, you must know how to use a computer and you should be able to download and install plug-ins, if you plan to use a computer other than the ones in the Mathematics Lab at the East Campus Learning Resource Center. Since this is a Valencia East Campus Course, the computers at the Computer Labs in other campuses may not have the appropriate plug-ins installed.

Important:

By the "Program Integrity and Documentation of Online Course Attendance" published by the Department of Education (ED) and adopted by Valencia College, any student registered in an online course must show attendance.

The Department of Education (ED) has made it clear that simply logging into an online or hybrid course does not constitute attendance as an "academically-related activity."

The way a student shows  attendance in this course is by (1) completing the Student Introduction Assignment found if the discussion section in BB, (2) completing the Syllabus Quiz found in BB with 100%, and (3) completing at least one Math lesson and the corresponding Homework assignment (in MML) with a score of at least 80%  by the No-Show deadline.

Caution: if you have not logged into BB posted the Student Introduction Assignment, complete the syllabus quiz, and logged into MML and complete at least a math lesson with at least 80% by the No-Show deadline of this term, as stated above, you will have not complied with the ED attendance policy, and you will be withdrawn from this course as a No-Show.

Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions. You can email me pfernandez@valenciacollege.edu) or call me (407-582-2755). Emails will receive a faster response. Have a great academic term!

I wish you the best with all your classes!
