Day 15  (10-1)     In section 9.1 do problems #1, 2, 3, 13, 15, 17, 19, 41, 44, 45, 47, 50, 51, 57, 61, 65, 73, 75 (Number 75 is an important problem so be prepared to discuss this one in class on Friday.)

Day 14  (09-26)    Study for TEST 2 that will be given on Monday covering chapter 3.  Remember that the phrase "...if and only if..." corresponds to the bi-conditional.  Also remember that the phrase "It is not the case that p and q" corresponds to the symbols ~ ( p ^ q ).  Know the various rules for determining the truth values for the five basic logical connectives as found on page 132 in the text.  On pages 148 - 149 learn the names and situations for the various valid and invalid arguments as given in the green  boxes.

Day 9  (09-15)    In section 3.2 do problems #21, 23, 25, 29, 37, 51, 55, 59, 67, 69.

Day 8  (09-12)    Review "Sets of Numbers" in the green box on page 102 as this will help you with some of the HW questions.  In section 3.1 do problems #55, 65, 67, 68, 69, 72, 73, 75.  In section 3.2 do problems #1, 3, 5, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 31, 33, 47, 49.

Day 7  (09-10)    TEST DAY -- Finish up your section 3.1 homework from last time and read section 3.2.

Day 6  (09-08)    Study for Test 1 on Wednesday.  For Friday, in section 3.1, do problems #1, 4, 5, 11, 15, 16, 19, 21, 23, 24, 39, 41, 43, 49, 50.

Day 5  (09-05)    In section 2.4 do problems #3, 7, 17, 19, 25, 27, 31.  For some of the problems you can check you answers with the back of the book.  Problem #17 is the most difficult.  The reason being is that you will not be able to work from the "inside-out" as we did in class.  You should still try to work from the "inside-out" but you may need to work on a little bit of the "outside" and then come back and finish the "inside" later.  One hint for this problem is: A' intersect B' intersect C' = (A union B union C)'.

Day 4  (09-03)    In section 2.3 do problems #87, 91, 97, 102, 103, 107, 109, 113.  In section 2.4 do problems #1, 3.  For #1 and 3 please note that the number in the Venn Diagrams DO NOT represent the regions themselves but rather the cardinalities of the various regions.

Day 3  (08-29)    In section 2.2 do problems #41, 42.  In section 2.3 do problems #7, 8, 15, 17, 21, 23, 25, 81, 83, 85.  For problems 17, 21, and 25 make sure that you do what is inside the parentheses first.  Also, for problems 83 and 85 it might be helpful to read through example 10 on page 73.

Day 2  (08-27)    In section 2.1 do problems #33, 37, 41, 43, 45, 75.  In section 2.2 do problems #1 through 6, and 7, 9, 13, 15, 17, 21, 25, 27, 29, 45, 47, 49, 51, 55, 57.  I know it seems like a lot of problems but many of them should go rather quickly because of the true/false and matching type formats.

Day 1  (08-25)      Familiarize yourself with the class website and print out a hard copy of the syllabus and bring to class Wednesday.  In section 2.1 do problems #1 through 8, 59, 61, 69, 71, 73, 87, 88.
