Announcements you missed if you enrolled after the first day of class:

1.  There is some extra credit available in this course.  The first extra credit assignment is to find a newspaper article (or it may be from a reputable magazine--clear it with me first) that relates to the course material.  Explain, in detail, how it is related to the course material.  You may present your findings to the class (approximately 5 minutes), or you may write your explanation (approximately 1-2 pages).  This assignment is optional and you have until April 11, 2014 to complete it.  Here is the rubric by which you will be graded.  Here is an example of a paper that earned a very low A.  Yours might want to include more detail to earn a higher A.

2.  Please silence your cell phones when you enter my course.  You may not have cell phones on your desk during exams.

3.  Come by my office when you need additional help.

4.  Find something with which you need additional help so that you have a reason to come by my office.  The best way to succeed in this course is to ask lots of questions and do lots of homework.
