General Psychology, PSY 1012, 3 credits  

Course Description: Life-oriented course in psychology, designed to give the student factual information in the techniques and vocabulary of psychology and a general understanding of human behavior. Survey, research and application of psychology in the areas of learning, intelligence, motivation, emotion, personality, behavior disorders, mental health, and therapy.

Grades Examinations: Six examinations will be administered during the semester. Each exam may consist of multiple-choice questions.

Papers: Each student will write two application papers this semester. The purpose of each paper will be to evaluate your ability to apply psychological principles to the assignment (grammar, spelling and formatting will be graded). The paper will be 1 1/2 to 2 pages in length, double-spaced, with twelve point font. Students will receive a maximum of fifty points for each paper. The cumulative score for the papers will equal to one examination score.

Extra-credit: A student may earn up to thirty-five points for excellent attendance, participation, and punctuality. These behaviors demonstrate how serious you are about the class.

Extra-credit Students with excellent attendance, meaningful class participation, and punctual arrival to the may earn up to one-half a letter grade added to their final exam score.
Make-up exams All make-up examinations will be administered at the Testing Center, Building 7, Room 219. Exams may be taken on April 28, 2004.
Attendance Seven absences will result in a letter grade reduction in your final grade or a "withdrawal" (W) from the course (professor's decision).
Academic honesty Expected of all students on all class work.
Withdrawal March 26, 2004 is the deadline for withdrawing from the course without penalty.
