Psychology Honors, PSY 1012H, 3 credits
Course Description: Life-oriented course in psychology, designed
to give the student factual information in the techniques and
vocabulary of psychology and a general understanding of human behavior.
Survey, research and application of psychology in the areas of
learning, intelligence, motivation, emotion, personality, behavior
disorders, mental health, and therapy.

Grades:

Exams: Four examinations will be administered during the
semester. The exams will cover the textbooks and classroom
information. Each exam will consist of multiple choice
questions.

Consultations/Research
Paper/Presentation:
Each student will select one topic from the syllabus that they are most interested
in researching. Before researching the topic
the student will make an appointment and attend a consultation
with the professor (5/159). An appointment will last
approximately twenty minutes. Appointments will be scheduled or
assigned by February 5th, 2004.
Prior
to the consultation the student will read the chapter related to
the topic that they have selected/assigned. During the consultation the
student ant the professor will discuss research options. The
student will research the topic and write a five page,
double-spaced paper, in twelve-point font, utilizing APA style,
with at least five references. Each student will develop a 10 -
20 minute PowerPoint Presentation for the topic. Students may
elect to present the PPT with the instructor's permission (more
credit will be assigned for students who make the presentation).
