General Psychology, PSY 1012, 3 credits
Course Description: This course provides a broad overview of the field of
psychology. The student will be introduced to basic psychological
information about motivation, emotion, learning, consciousness, biological influences on behavior, research,
development, therapy, psychological health and psychological
disorders.

Examinations:
Twelve examinations will be administered during the term.
Each exam will consist of multiple-choice questions covering one
chapter. Examinations will be administered at the last scheduled class
meeting for the assigned chapter.
Papers:
Each student will write two application papers this semester. The
purpose
of each paper will be to evaluate your
ability to apply
psychological
principles to the assignment (grammar, spelling and
formatting
will be graded). The paper will be 1 ½ to 2 pages in
length,
double-spaced, with twelve point font. Students
will receive
a
maximum of twenty points for each paper.
Extra
Credit:
A student may earn up to twenty points for excellent attendance,
participation and punctuality. These behaviors demonstrate how serious you
are about the class.
